In Africa’s rapidly expanding cargo and bulk handling sector, where efficiency, safety, and dust control are critical, Flexicon has introduced a solution tailored to meet demanding operational conditions. The company’s latest Pneumati-Con dilute phase vacuum conveying system features a dual-intake design that allows operators to handle materials from both small bags and open containers, while maintaining a clean, dust-free working environment.
Designed with real-world operations in mind, the system offers flexibility for facilities that manage a variety of material inputs. Operators can manually empty bags into the system or use a handheld pick-up wand to transfer materials directly from containers at floor level. This dual functionality is particularly valuable across African ports, warehouses, and processing plants, where handling methods often vary depending on cargo type and infrastructure.
The system is mounted on a durable carbon steel access platform and incorporates a stainless steel hopper equipped with a dust hood and glove box. This setup enables operators to safely open and empty bags without exposure to airborne particles. By allowing materials to be handled within a controlled environment, the system significantly improves workplace safety while maintaining operational efficiency.
Dust management remains a key concern in bulk handling, especially when dealing with minerals, agricultural products, and fine powders. The Pneumati-Con system addresses this by capturing dust generated during bag dumping, disposal, and compaction, and directing it through dual cartridge filters. This ensures that airborne particles are effectively contained, protecting both workers and equipment while reducing product loss.
Efficiency is further enhanced through an integrated bag compactor, which can compress up to 80 empty bags into a single removable bin. This feature not only reduces waste volume but also simplifies disposal and helps maintain a cleaner, more organised facility.
As investment in mining, agriculture, and port infrastructure continues to grow across the continent, the need for reliable and adaptable bulk handling solutions is becoming increasingly important. Flexicon’s dual-intake Pneumati-Con system responds to this demand by combining flexibility, safety, and dust control—making it a valuable addition to modern cargo and bulk handling operations in Africa.
