Cosco, ONE, and ZIM Launch New Shipping Services to Nigeria’s Lekki Port
Lekki Port Welcomes New Shipping Services with Cosco, ONE, and ZIM Alliance
Lekki Port has expanded its global shipping services with the official launch of operations by the Cosco, Ocean Network Express (ONE), and ZIM alliance. This milestone was marked by the arrival of the EA Centaurus, the largest Cosco vessel ever to call at Nigeria, boasting a length of 277 meters and a container handling capacity of 7,000 TEUs.
Christophe Cassang, CEO of Lekki Freeport Terminal, highlighted the strategic importance of the new partnership with industry giants, Cosco, ONE, and ZIM, emphasizing how it strengthens Nigeria’s trade position on the global stage. “We are equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology to meet the needs of these leading shipping lines and our customers,” he said.
Du Ruogang, Managing Director of Lekki Port, celebrated the achievement as a key milestone, noting that the bi-weekly services from the consortium would boost cargo volumes and further develop Nigeria’s maritime industry. He added, “This achievement is not the end but rather the beginning.”
Adesuwa Ladoja, CEO of Lagos Free Zone, pointed out that the addition of four shipping lines calling at Lekki Port opens up numerous options for businesses in the Lagos Free Zone, helping them streamline their supply chains and expand into global markets. “This growth is a catalyst for economic rejuvenation in the entire Lekki area,” she said.
With these developments, Lekki Port is positioning itself as a key player in West Africa’s shipping and trade landscape.
