DRC Shuts Airspace to Rwandan Aircraft, Disrupting RwandAir Routes

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has officially closed its airspace to aircraft registered in Rwanda, forcing RwandAir to make immediate flight adjustments.

In response to the sudden restriction, RwandAir announced that it has rerouted affected flights to maintain service continuity. However, according to ChimpReports, this move could significantly disrupt flights to major destinations, including the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Turkey, Gabon, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, and Nigeria.

“We are committed to ensuring the safety and convenience of our passengers. Our team is working diligently to provide the most efficient alternatives with minimal disruption,” RwandAir stated.

The airspace closure marks a new chapter in the ongoing tensions between the two nations, with potential ripple effects on regional air travel. Passengers are advised to stay updated on further flight changes.
