Electreon Unveils Lite Dot Wireless EV Charging System at IAA Transportation

Electreon has unveiled its Lite Dot wireless charging system at IAA Transportation in Hannover, Germany, introducing a stationary charging solution designed for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.

The system allows an electric vehicle to charge without a conventional cable or plug. Once the vehicle is positioned above the charging pad, Lite Dot automatically detects the vehicle and initiates charging.

Wireless Charging for Vehicles and Fleets

Lite Dot uses magnetic induction technology, building on Electreon’s experience with wireless dynamic charging systems. Unlike charging infrastructure integrated into roads, the stationary system is installed above ground and does not require excavation.

The solution consists of four main components: a wall-mounted power unit, a charging pad, a vehicle-integrated receiver and the Electreon Flow Driver mobile application. The app enables users to monitor and control the charging process.

With charging power of up to 11 kW, Electreon says Lite Dot can charge most passenger cars and light commercial vehicles from 10% to 90% in approximately six hours. The system is designed for indoor and outdoor environments and can operate in temperatures ranging from -30°C to 50°C.

For fleet operators, wireless charging could reduce some of the wear associated with conventional charging cables and connectors. Vehicles can charge during scheduled parking periods without requiring drivers to connect and disconnect charging cables.

Lite Dot supports OCPP for monitoring, remote control and centralised energy management, while vehicle-to-charger authentication uses the ISO 15118 standard. Electreon also says the system can operate without a cloud connection, with software updates delivered through its cloud infrastructure.

The company is targeting a second-half 2027 market launch, although pricing and production locations have yet to be announced. Electreon is also considering additional capabilities, including simultaneous charging of two vehicles and a conventional wired charging option for visitors.
