Konecranes Unveils D-Series: A Versatile, High-Performance Electric Chain Hoist

Konecranes has introduced its latest innovation—the Konecranes D-Series electric chain hoist, built to meet the demands of modern industries seeking durable, efficient, and safe lifting solutions. Engineered for reliability, the new hoist series combines robust construction, advanced safety features, and a compact, space-saving design, making it ideal for a wide range of industrial environments.

Initially launched in the EMEA region, the D-Series will see expanded global availability and additional configuration options rolled out through 2026. The new line covers lifting capacities from 80 kg to 5,000 kg, spread across seven frame sizes, ensuring performance in both tight and demanding conditions across sectors such as manufacturing, automotive, and process industries.

Efficiency Through Innovation

“The D-Series is designed to minimize downtime and maximize uptime,” said Klaus Möllmann, Senior Manager for LLE Product Sales and Offer Support, EMEA. “Its modular, low-maintenance components simplify servicing and allow for seamless integration with other Konecranes equipment such as KBK workstation cranes, jib cranes, and overhead cranes.”

Starting March 2025, Konecranes will also offer pre-configured, quick-ship hoists—complete with standard features, pendants, and trolleys—available directly from stock for faster deployment.

Key Features at a Glance

  • Advanced Safety Systems: Equipped with a slipping clutch and speed monitoring, 24V contactor control, and limit switches for enhanced operational safety.

  • Plug-and-Play Installation: Simple setup with height-adjustable control pendants and “plug & lift” connections.

  • Wide Operating Temperature Range: Reliable from -20°C to +45°C, with capability up to 60°C or more.

  • Minimal Maintenance: Gearbox, clutch, and brake require no servicing for up to 10 years (one-shift operation).

  • Flexible Suspension Options: Easily adaptable mounting systems and trolley integration for versatile applications.

  • Compact, Space-Saving Design: Ideal for tight or complex layouts without sacrificing functionality.

  • Real-Time Service Status: A 7-digit external display shows live data including usage hours, warnings, and system errors.

Built with Safety and the Environment in Mind

Ian Grobler, Sales Manager for Konecranes South Africa, emphasized the importance of compliance and operator safety:

“The D-Series integrates smart safety features like automatic stop mechanisms, load limiters, and precise positioning tools, ensuring safer and more efficient lifting.”

Operators benefit from an ergonomic pendant control, or the optional Manulift unit, which allows single-handed operation for loads up to 500 kg. Designed for both right- and left-hand use, the Manulift comes with a range of attachments to suit diverse industrial applications. Optional radio controls are also available, enhancing safety and flexibility on the job.

Sustainability Built In

True to Konecranes’ commitment to sustainability, the D-Series follows the Design for Environment (DfE) principles. Developed and produced at the Wetter, Germany facility using 100% renewable energy, the hoists are made primarily from recyclable metals like steel, aluminum, and cast iron.

The hoist’s modular design allows for easy replacement and maintenance of components, extending its service life and reducing waste. Even the packaging is fully recyclable, further reducing environmental impact.
