Skeltek Enhances Offshore Operations with Atlas Copco XAHS700 Pace Compressors

Namibian-owned Skeltek Industrial Works (Pty) Ltd. is revolutionizing offshore drilling and well-construction operations with the Atlas Copco XAHS700 Pace compressors. These powerful, efficient units ensure the safe and reliable handling of dry bulk chemicals, essential for offshore projects.

“We have successfully transferred thousands of tons of product using Atlas Copco machines during our drilling campaigns and aim to continue with this high level of operational success,” says Anthony Diab, Director of Skeltek Industrial Works (Pty) Ltd.

Compact and High-Performance Technology

According to Jonathan Cassell, APE Sales Engineer at Atlas Copco Power Technique, the XAHS700 Pace compressors are designed with mobility, efficiency, and reliability in mind.

“Featuring advanced Pace (Pressure Adjusted through Cognitive Electronics) technology, these compact, fuel-efficient units meet our customers’ needs for high flow rates and dependable performance.”

Equipped with Atlas Copco’s FleetLink technology, these compressors provide real-time performance monitoring, giving Skeltek greater control and operational efficiency.

Optimized Dry Bulk Transfer for Offshore Operations

The XAHS700 Pace air compressors play a crucial role in pneumatically conveying dry bulk chemicals from quayside storage silos to Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs).

“To facilitate the transfer process, the XAHS700 compressors pressurize the pneumatic silos, creating a fluidized bed that allows the material to be efficiently moved through a piping network to the PSV,” explains Anthony Diab.

This system is designed with worker safety and environmental protection in mind, incorporating dust collection systems to manage airborne particles.

Reliability and Efficiency: A Game-Changer for Skeltek

For Skeltek, mobility, high flow rates, fuel efficiency, and ease of serviceability were key considerations when selecting these compressors.

“We rely on these compressors for smooth, uninterrupted operations, and they deliver on all fronts,” says Anthony. “The ability to set multiple pressure and flow rates in a single unit eliminates the need for multiple machines, significantly reducing costs.”

Jonathan highlights the user-friendly software that allows operators to customize pressure and flow settings based on specific application needs, ensuring optimal performance across varying bulk densities.

“This technology is invaluable, giving operators full control over their workflow and boosting overall productivity,” adds Anthony.

Smart Fleet Management with Atlas Copco’s FleetLink

To further enhance efficiency, Skeltek has implemented Atlas Copco’s FleetLink remote monitoring system on their XAHS700 compressors.

Remote tracking of machine location, performance, and fuel usage
24/7 access via the FleetLink app on Google Play & Apple Store
Optimized fleet usage, reduced maintenance costs, and increased uptime

“With FleetLink, we stay connected to our jobsites, machines, and teams anytime, anywhere,” says Anthony.

Unmatched Support and Future Expansion

Ensuring seamless maintenance in Namibia, Atlas Copco has supplied Skeltek with service kits and works closely with its dealer network to provide after-sales support and spare parts availability.

“The after-sales service has been exceptional, and we are extremely satisfied with the reliability of these compressors. I have no doubt we’ll be adding more units to our fleet soon,” concludes Anthony.

By integrating Atlas Copco’s XAHS700 Pace compressors, Skeltek continues to set new benchmarks for efficiency, safety, and innovation in Namibia’s offshore drilling industry.
