Royal Air Maroc Cargo Launches Weekly Casablanca–Dakar Freighter Service

Royal Air Maroc Cargo has expanded its African air freight network with the launch of a new dedicated freighter route linking Casablanca in Morocco with Dakar, Senegal. The weekly service operates between Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) and Blaise Diagne International Airport (DSS), strengthening cargo connectivity between North and West Africa.

The route is operated using a Boeing 767 freighter with a payload capacity of approximately 45 tonnes. By adding Dakar to its freighter network, Royal Air Maroc Cargo is responding to growing trade demand from Senegal, one of West Africa’s fastest-growing and most dynamic economies.

Dakar joins an expanding freighter portfolio that already includes Brussels, Istanbul, Bamako, and Ouagadougou. The airline currently operates three weekly freighter flights to Brussels, two each to Istanbul, Bamako, and Ouagadougou, reinforcing Casablanca’s role as a strategic cargo hub connecting Africa with Europe and beyond.

Rita Chraibi, Vice President Cargo at Royal Air Maroc, said the new route represents a key step in the airline’s long-term strategy to enhance Africa’s logistics infrastructure. She noted that the Casablanca–Dakar service addresses customer demand for reliable capacity and faster transit times while supporting the development of sustainable and efficient air cargo corridors across the continent.

In addition to its freighter operations, Royal Air Maroc Cargo serves more than 80 destinations worldwide through scheduled passenger and cargo services. The network is further extended through interline agreements with partner airlines and trucking service providers, enabling seamless cargo movement across regions.

Casablanca remains central to the carrier’s cargo strategy, supported by a modern hub with an annual handling capacity of 200,000 tonnes. The facility is equipped with specialised infrastructure for perishables, pharmaceuticals, and high-value goods, positioning it as a key gateway for African exports and imports.
