Siwertell Road-Mobile Ship Unloader Boosts Cement Handling Efficiency at Libyan Port

Bruks Siwertell to Deliver Next-Generation Ship Unloader for Efficient Cement Handling in Benghazi

Bruks Siwertell is set to supply a state-of-the-art Siwertell 10 000 S road-mobile ship unloader to Belgian company SST BELGË NV. This advanced equipment will enhance flexible and environmentally friendly cement handling operations at the port of Benghazi, Libya, significantly improving regional supply chain efficiency.

Why Siwertell?
“The operator recognized the superior performance and reliability of our proven dry bulk handling technology,” explains Jörgen Ojeda, Sales Director Mobile Unloaders at Bruks Siwertell. “Siwertell road-mobile unloaders outpace comparable dry bulk handling technologies in terms of throughput capacity, environmental protection, reliability, and cost-efficiency.”

Following an extensive evaluation of potential suppliers, SST BELGË NV selected the next-generation Siwertell 10 000 S model due to Bruks Siwertell’s ability to deliver market-leading mechanical unloading systems with short lead times and competitive pricing.

“These unloaders not only improve port efficiency but also offer strategic adaptability,” Ojeda continues. “Their mobility allows operations across multiple ports with minimal infrastructure, and they can be relocated when not in use. Initially designed for cement, their success in this sector continues to grow globally.”

A Key Role in Benghazi’s Growth
The unloader will serve a vital role at Benghazi’s port, part of the newly established Julyana Freezone, a logistics and supply chain hub launched in 2023. Benghazi functions as a key transit point for landlocked nations like Chad and Niger, facilitating efficient cargo movement from ship to shore and onward to inland destinations via rail.

Technical and Environmental Excellence
The Siwertell 10 000 S road-mobile ship unloader boasts a continuous rated capacity of 300t/h, capable of efficiently discharging vessels of up to 10,000 dwt. It features fully enclosed conveying systems and integrated dust filters, ensuring minimal dust emissions and adherence to the highest environmental protection standards.

The system also includes a double-bellows discharge arrangement with automatic shifting functionality, enabling rapid and efficient material transfer directly to waiting trucks.

Comprehensive Training and Handover
The delivery package includes a two-day in-depth training program for operators, covering theoretical and practical knowledge of the unloader, maintenance guidelines, and best practices for efficient operation.

Ready for handover, the unloader is set to play a pivotal role in modernizing cement handling at the port of Benghazi, supporting its emergence as a critical logistics hub in the region.
